The baby bottle shapes, the glass tubes and the primitive nipples all provided breeding grounds for molds and diseases. Doctors condemned these baby nursing bottles, and infant mortality rates of the time were shocking – only two out of ten infants lived to their second birthday.   But parents continued to buy and use the nursers.
